Newsbite - An Entropy Force: A New Direction for Gravity ![]() What is gravity? We know it as the force of attraction between two bodies, but more than that, how do we explain its origin? Pinning down why gravity exists has proved difficult, although described with laws by Newton and Einstein - their laws are only Mathematical descriptions, and do not show us the fundamental properties of this phenomenon. ![]() The force of gravity is not something ingrained in matter, but rather is an extra-physical effect. Erik Peter Verlinde (Dutch theoretical physicist, 1962) has experimented on gravity based on the holographic principle linking it to the change in energy of the system as well as Einstein’s relation of mass to energy, leading directly to Newton’s law of gravity. But up till now, we still have yet to define fully what gravity is. As Science advances, scientists will continue researching and coming up with new findings on gravity. (142 Words) |
